At Hello Robo, we work with both YC founders and successful serial entreprenuers, who are building revolutionary AI products. 8 out of 10 of these founders come to us wanting that “AI chat thing”. It’s almost become the default request. But here’s the thing: What problem are you trying to solve and DOES IT HAVE TO BE A CHAT?

Most of pre-Ai product and existing Ai products on the market today often lack the one thing customers really need: REASONING ASPECT. Users don’t just want to know what an AI can do. They need to know why something is happening. There’s big unadressed need to find answers to "Why does this data mean for me?" or "What's the reason behind this?"

Instead of inviting users to dive into the chaos of possibilities through open-ended chat, we should be providing contextual AI solutions. Imagine an interface that offers a simple contextual menu with personalized, relevant answers. Instead of asking, What can I ask this AI?, users should be able to ask, What does this mean for me?

Yes, we’ve seen pre-prompts in chatbots trying to guide the conversation—and they are getting smarter—but that’s not enough. The real innovation comes when AI anticipates the user’s needs and provides meaningful, actionable context. That’s where the future lies, beyond the chat.

So, if you are building your Ai thing, ask yourself:

Does it have to be a chat?
